This weeks Thursday Thirteen revolves around 13 ways to perform a random act of kindness. feel free to add any you may think of in the comments section. I'd love to hear more.

1. During a sale on non perishable items in the grocery store, buy extra and donate it to your local food pantry.

2. Kids are going back to school, buy extra supplies if you can and send it to the teacher. Many teachers provide supplies for underprivileged children and they appreciate any help.

3. If you see a member of our military in a restaurant, pay for all or a portion of their meal if you can't pay for the whole thing and include a note telling them you appreciate them.

4. Know a frazzled Mom who could use a break? Watch her kids for her for the night or even just while she goes to run errands.

5. Know a working Mom who could use some housework help? Offer to come vacuum or dust or whatever she needs done, within reason, or cook dinner for her family and bring it over.

6. Give someone a compliment just to see them smile. It'll make their day AND yours too.

7. Have time to offer? Did you know that nursing homes will allow you to volunteer to come in and give very simple manicures? I've seen many a lil ole lady brightened just having a pretty shade of polish on her fingernails. You'll be surprised at how this makes YOU feel too.

8. Do you Knit, crochet or sew? Make small lap blankets for the elderly. Even when it's hot out they can still get cold and a pretty blankie brightens they're day.

9. Buy or print some pretty stationary and leave it with a pen and some stamps at a nursing home.

10. Buy a phone card and give it to a homeless shelter for them to give it to someone.

11. Has someone at a business you frequent really helped you? Write their boss a note.

12. Donate a Teddy Bear to a police officer to keep in his patrol car to give to a traumatized child.

13. Put a quarter in an expired parking meter.
