Yes that's the Boy Scout motto but it should also be the motto of any family that can face severe weather. That covers pretty much all of us. Be it Hurricanes, Tornado's or whatever, the weather can certainly be behind many deaths in the US. In many cases those death's could have been prevented by simply being properly prepared in case of emergency.

Last year when Ike hit, my sister and I thought we were as prepared as we could be in the situation. It turned out that as much as we'd done there were still things we could have done better. We had flashlights but not enough extra batteries. We had cell phones and we charged them before the storm but that only lasts so long when everyone is calling to check on you. We didn't rely on candles but we used our flashlights as sparingly as we could and they still ran out.

So this year, Just In case, I plan to be ready and Energizer has given me the opportunity to see that another family also has a good start in preparing for bad weather.

Energizer and The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) have come together to form an initiative called Power Through It All™. This is a movement designed to help families stay safe and connected during power outages. They recommend putting together an Emergency Power Kit. Ideally each power kit should include the following...
A Flashlight for every member of the family
Battery operated radio
Portable Cell Phone Charger
Extra batteries to fit all the above in case of a prolonged outage.

You'll notice that unlike other emergency lists, candles are not recommended. Why? They're the 3rd leading cause of injuries in home fires. Only cooking and heating are rated higher. With small children or pets in the home, the chance of an accident multiplies. Flashlights and battery operated lanterns are safe, effective and last for years to come, saving you money and worry in already difficult times.

IN effort to get the word out, Energizer is offering one of my readers the chance to get an Energizer Emergency Power Kit totally free.
It contains:
Energizer® Ultimate Lithium AA batteries,
Energizer® Energi To Go® cell phone charger,
Energizer® MAX® Batteries (AA, C and D),
Energizer® Weather Ready® 2 LED Flashlight,
Energizer® EZ Change® ,
Energizer® 2032 Watch Batteries,
and a small radio.

To Enter, Do one or all of these:

1.what is one thing that will put a great big ole smile on your face?
My Kids, Diesel cocking his head to one side with his ears up and that confused look on his face, my nieces and nephews and my special someone

2.Your walking down the street toward a very familiar face. As you get closer you realize you do not remember this persons name at all. Do you speak with the chance that they'll want to stop and chat or do you pretend that you don't see the person?

LOL, this happened just the other day. I pretended not to see them. When I got home, I was really glad too because it finally dawned on me that it was an ex boyfriend from high school. He'd have been unhappy that I didn't even remember his name.

3. Are you the Rock or the sponge of your household?

The rock I suppose. I'm the only parent so not much chance I get to be the sponge.

4. You have gone over to a friends for dinner. You look down at your plate and notice a great big ole hair hanging out from inside your sandwich. What do you do. ?

I make sure it's not mine first so I don't embarrass anyone needlessly, if it's not then I either try to sneak bites to the dog tile the sandwich is gone or I mention that I just suddenly am not feeling as hungry as I thought.

5. If you HAD to name one....who would you say is your role model?

Hmmmmm, I truly don't have ONE. I take strength from my Grandma who did whatever she had to do to get by, I take Humor from my Grandpa who knew there was something funny in almost everything life offers, I take Chance from my Mom who showed me that even a little later in life you can still do what you set your mind to and succeed, I take Kindness from my other Grandma who would rather do almost anything than say an unkind word about someone else, and I take Honor from my Dad, he's literally the most honest and forthright person I know.

6. Have you raised children? if so do you think your parenting skills were top notch or could have used a little help from Dr Phil?

In all honesty, I made lots of mistakes when my kids were young. I had no clue what I was doing and without the help of my sisters and my Mom and Dad I don't know what I'd have done. I definitely could have used Dr. Phil back then, but I find that I'm very lucky that despite some of the mistakes, I did teach my kids to love, be kind, be honest, to work for what they want and to smile often. I can live with that.

7. would your -(Past or present)- mate/spouse, significant other/whatever -say that living with you has been like a gentle breeze or more like a hurricane?

LOL, well we don't live together, but he'd likely say I was pretty close to a Category 2 or maybe even a 3 hurricane. I'm always up to something and thank goodness he seems not to mind it at all.

8. When you shop at the grocery store, do you always shop exactly by a list or just go helter skelter and hope that you get home with most of what you need?

Definitely Helter Skelter. I almost never have a list. That'd be like "organized" or something and would blow my whole rep. Can't have that.

It's supposed to be the weekend, ya know when most people take a break. I have to work today til 2 which is okay. Saturday's tend to be busy and usually pretty good money so I like that and the day goes by quickly.

After I get off I have to go have a talk with the cucumber plants in the garden. They are trying to take over the garden kingdom. I'm not sure I can even stop them anymore lol. They're HUGE and getting bigger literally by the day. So i have to go figure out how to train them AGAIN to grow to the other side and not on the tomatoes. Should be fun. NOT

Then after I battle with wayward plants I get to fix the kids computer. Deep Joy! Apparently Ashley has broken the rules again and went to sites that weren't previously approved by me. Big shock right? An 18 year old who doesn't listen. Something is going on with their system and i'm going to have to reinstall their antivirus software and likely their antispyware program too. Or maybe I should say I need to replace it as opposed to re-installing it. I've considered just locking the whole thing down and setting up a better internet security system so they can't go places that aren't approved. Well, wait, *I* won't be doing it, but I know a genius who can lol. It wouldn't be so bad but Ash just doesn't get that she can literally wipe the system out by not just following rules. Since I work from home and my computers are vital to the job, she's just going to have to suck it up and listen or simply don't use them. Either way is fine with me.

After that, i have to work in the yard and spread out some weed & feed. There are some sticker patches that are driving me nuts. Sure I could put on shoes but what fun is that? Far better to leave the shoes in the house and kill the stickers.

Should be an interesting day.

This is my oldest son taken at the top of Pike's Peak a few years ago. We had the opportunity to go for the weekend to Colorado and see all the sites. It was beautiful but Jonathon was way to brave for me and Daniel's tastes. Daniel is scared of heights anyway and seeing his brother sometimes on the very edge of the mountain had him looking like this all day. He was almost begging us to leave lol.

How many of you have little neurotic furbabies? I have exactly one. If I leave the house, Diesel and Sargie are happy to see me come home but they don't flip out. They wag their tails and let me know they're glad to see me. It's great. Makes me feel loved and stuff.

Minnie though.........O M G! I'm telling you she drives me insane. She's 12 years old and she doesn't wait for me to leave to miss me. She's on top of me all freakin day. If i'm working in My office, she's under my desk or watching me from the little bed I made her so she can stalk me in comfort. It doesn't matter how asleep she is though. If I get up she's all over it. If i have to go potty, i have to beat her to the door and shut it before she gets in. When I come out, she's right there waiting on me. If she even thinks I'm going outside she follows me as close as she can so she can get out with me. If she gets left inside she stands at the door and screams til someone lets her out. She's positive she HAS to be with me constantly.

I can't imagine what in the world she does the whole time i'm gone when I leave the house. When I get home, I can hear her screaming as soon as I open the car door. When I get in the house she screams and runs in circles around me and the furniture for about 5 minutes to the point that after 12 years it's just annoying. I swear I think maybe she needs Dog Day Care that she can go to when I'll be gone. The only problem is.........she'd probably beat up all the other doggies. ::sigh::

1. Do you know anyone with heterochromia? Does it freak you out or do you think it's interesting?
No, I don't know anyone with it but I think it would take some time to get used to.

2. Should a 5th face be added to Mount Rushmore? If so, who?
Ummmmm, sure. It should be Spongebob for sure.

3. If you could live on any planet other than earth, which one would you choose and why?
Oh sheesh, I dunno. Ummmmmmmm, Maybe i'd live on Jupiter since I was fascinated by mythology as a kid.

4. We're going to spend the night at a reportedly haunted location, are you going with us?If so, which reportedly haunted place are we going?
Hell no, not unless the Ghostbusters are coming along.

5. Did you play The Queen's Meme this week? If so, was it fair of The Queen to put Berleen in the dungeon by association with Kimber? (We all know Kimber deserved it, but Berleen?!)

Not a clue what you're talking about there but I am sure Berleen was wronged horribly and stuff

6. What color is the towel(s) hanging in your bathroom?
Ummm, blue and white striped

7. Tell us something funny that happened to you recently.
I was working and needed coffee. So I jumped up to run to get coffee before another call could come in. I flung open the door prepared to run and was stopped by an immovable wall of rottweiler. I tripped, hit the couch and bumped my head on the wood part. No coffee or dog was harmed, only my dignity.

8. We just bought you a cow. Do you kill it & grill it, feed it & milk it, or sell it?
Well, i can say I would keep it but no freakin way i'm milking it. That's just not something I'd care to do.

9. It's 115 degrees outside (46 degrees Celsius), are you able to go without Air Conditioning?
Seriously? I want to meet someone who CAN!

10. When you visit the zoo do you wonder which animal tastes better with a bit of butter & spices?

OMG, NO! Who wrote these questions this week? I do however wonder how many are wishing they could eat those of us staring at them.

11. Dog ate your homework/work papers. Does it crap out Shakespeare, quantum physics, or just crap?
My dog is talented and no matter what I wrote that he ate, it would turn out to be a masterpiece.

12. We are taking you to a broadway show, what are we going to see?
The fastest way to an exit. I don't do Broadway.

13. Gunshots in your neighborhood. Pop, pop, pop. Do you go out to take a look, or hide?
I'm from Texas, Redneck Hell Texas to be precise. I'm used to hearing guns. I'd walk outside and yell at BillyJoeBob to tell his Grandmother/cousin to stop doing crack with her "customers".

Well sort of anyway. My other addictions besides the Protein bars I mentioned earlier are coffee, chocolate, Motley Crue and Pogo. I've been playing in Pogo for almost 10 years off and on and i've watched it grow more and more each year. It's nice because I can go and play, chat if I want, and just hang out. It's my stress relief. Or was anyway.

Ever since I had to put Windows back on this computer there has been an issue with the monitor. I downloaded all the available Acer Drivers which apply to the monitor as well as the rest of the lap top and thought I had it worked out. Everything else works fine, but the acceleration and such for graphics is an issue. I can't play any Pogo games while on this laptop because of this. I searched for other Display Drivers and I did manage to finally get the display to change somewhat but the rest of the problem still remains.

The weird thing is that when I first got this laptop, it was like that too and then one day I did some Windows Updates and voila......it was fixed. I've done all those again since reinstalling but it's made no difference. So, I guess I'll just keep searching for computer drivers and see what I come up with. I can play Pogo games on the other laptop but its not as fast as mine and well, i want to use MINE lol.

Hopefully it will be fixed soon. I miss my games and pals over there.

I've been having this silent war with the local Wally World. See, I'm addicted to these certain protein bars. When this local store stopped selling them I tried several others but they all tasted awful and cost a fortune too. So I was quite upset for a bit until yesterday and I was planning revenge against this store. They were saved from the wrath of Nessa though, and just in time too! Guess what I finally found at another store? Yep, My protein bars!! I was so excited I bought 3 boxes which will last me just a little over 2 weeks. Yayyyyyyyyy!!! So, for at least a little while I don't have to worry about where to find them.

Just in case though, I went to look online to see if I can find them at a better price or at least a steady supply. This is a serious addiction I tell you! So far I found a great meal replacement shake site that also carries some protein bars I may want to try. Not the ones I'm addicted to mind you, but maybe more nutritious anyway.

Anyway, wish me luck. I'll probably need it.

The kids are still asking me what we're doing for vacation this year. It seems they're sure that somehow I'm just going to pull money off a tree and we'll just take off. I'm thinking we may go camping or something but that's about as far as it goes. We haven't been in a while so that would be fun anyway.

For those of you who can afford a vacation I found some interesting ways to cut costs but not necessarily the fun. Family vacation budgeting doesn't have to be boring. It can even be a family project. If you have a safe search function, kids can look online for coupons and internet deals for things to do and see in the area you plan to visit. The main thing is to be sure to plan well. Decide what you can spend even if you just break it down by the day and then decide what to do with what you can spend.

Vacations can be a great way to relax and unwind, but don't get to the point that you need a debt consolidation service in the process. If you do spend too much and you max out those credit cards, check out Consolidatedcredit.org for credit counseling, debt management and even other budget travel tips. They have all the tools and help you need to make better decisions for your credit health.

Camera Critters

After I got off work today I went to go change the blankie that the baby kitties use. Since they’re up moving around now some they had to be moved out of the small linen closet and into a big laundry bucket.  They were getting out of the cabinet and Poppy was getting antsy about it. She kept trying to move them into my big closet. Not a bad idea except they’d get lost for sure in that jungle.Anyway, I got in there and this is what I saw. Does it get cuter than this???

I do. My policy with Geico expires at the end of this month and while their lil gecko is cute, My monthly costs are not. They're not bad as a company, don't get me wrong. I just need to downsize some financial aspects of my life and that's one where I should be able to save some money.

The only problem is that I wonder if cheap full coverage car insurance actually exists. I've heard it does lol, I've never witnessed it.

Soooooooooo, I did some quick quotes today and I found out that Progressive seems not to realize there is a little bit of a recession going on. Nationwide sure as heck isn't on my wallets side. If I'm in Allstate's hands, My pocketbook is liable to come up empty and well, you get the idea right? Looks like I'm stuck with the cute lil gecko doesn't it?

I guess it could be worse but I suppose on the upside it showed me I have the best insurance as far as cost goes for right now. It might save others money to compare quotes though. I know my sister did recently and she saved a ton by changing companies so it does work to do side by side comparisons, especially if you've been with a company for long.

If ya try it, good luck to ya. ::smile:: The main thing is, make sure that whatever you have to pay that you do have auto insurance so you don't have one of these after you

and you won't end up looking like this.

Anyone who has read here before knows that putting a stop to bullying is a subject near and dear to my heart. After my own daughter was targeted for years, culminating in her decision to harm herself over it, I removed her from the school. This was after years of fighting with the school. Begging them to do something, anything to take care of the brats that didn't just go after Ashley, they went after everyone they could. It was racial in some cases, It was not in others. It was boys in some cases and in others it was girls.

The schools' solution each time was to remove Ashley from the situation which always really just made me even madder for the most part. The toads were never punished, Ashley was. It's the same for almost all bullied children.

Schools say that they have measures in place, and some states say that they have legislation against such behavior. Sounds all warm and fuzzy doesn't it? Almost like your children are safe in schools where these "measures" have been implemented. Let me tell you, Madisonville High School told me the same exact thing about my daughter's situation. Want to know what happened to the offenders who almost drove Ashley to suicide? One boy got a swat, the teacher lied her ass off and was believed, the girl who offered to slap Ashley for the teacher wasn't even talked to. Hmmmmm, do you see a deterrent there? I don't. I mean really.........a 16 year old boy getting a swat for literally emotionally torturing Ashley while a teacher joined in the laughter and contributed to it, even telling Ashley to sit down and be quiet while it continued. Gosh a whole swat to cover the entire situation? Yeah that'll teach them all a lesson for sure. The teacher kept her job, i'm pretty sure she didn't learn any sort of lesson either, but at over 50 I think if she was ever going to learn it the time was long past anyway. The ahem, "young lady" got pregnant the next year and quit school. All I can say is I hope her child doesn't face anyone with his/her mother's behavior. The boy didn't learn anything, that was obvious when he did it again the next week and had to leave school eventually because he finally picked on the wrong person and he was targeted to get the crap beat out of him. There's a little part of me that hates that he quit before they got hold of him. I know that's mean and not very adult of me, but when I saw him in a store recently he's lucky he got out of there before i could get him lol. He'd have been much more embarrassed with a 30 something woman beating him with a purse I promise.

What brought this up today? Watching CNN yesterday as a mother described finding her 11 year old hanging by an extension cord after being severely bullied. I want to hug her, I want to duct tape little kids who don't know better and i'd like to have their parents sterilized so they can't breed anymore of the brats since they obviously aren't bothering to teach the ones they already have to be decent human beings.

There's no excuse. As much as people blame schools, it's a failure of the parents and no one else. I've heard excuses like "well I'm a single mom". My answer was "AND? So Am I, My 4 children have never been called in to the principal over cruelty to another child but your ONE is here every week". It has nothing to do with anything other than responsibility of parents to TEACH their children Empathy, acceptance and basic decency. I'm telling you my kids could steal and I wouldn't find it as horrifying as getting a call from the teacher telling me that my child was bullying another kid. I assure you, I'd get that call exactly ONCE!

I began teaching my kids when they were very small. Jonathon at 2, called an elderly black man, "chocolate". Even at 2 it was explained to him that yes the man looked different than he did but he was just a regular man like his dad or his pawpaw and should be described as such. It wasn't really Jonathon's fault, he was 2, maybe 3, i forget now and he hadn't seen anyone of another race before that he really remembered since we stayed at home a lot back then. The elderly gentleman just chuckled and said that was the nicest thing he'd been called in a long time. That in itself was sad but I realized that it's never too early to teach my kids about other people and differences.

Sadly other parents don't bother and in some oh so enlightened cases, even encourage bullying, racist behavior. That's where schools come in. The failure of the parent now becomes the job of the school. Some school officials genuinely want to help, others just don't see it as a problem. They say "I was bullied when I was a kid and I turned out fine". So? Because YOU survived, other children should go through it? That's a great comeback Mr School Official, feel free to resign now. Sure there are kids who grow up stronger as adults because of being bullied. Some are never affected. Some DIE! I am fairly positive that if I were a school official, i'd not want to be the one to decide how any child will deal with it in the end. I'd want to handle the situation to be sure that the child who came to me for help knew I would do everything I could to protect them. Period.

Even those who do want to help, they're hands can often be tied by what they can do. Personally, I don't care what the age of the kid is, I think if they demonstrate time and again that they aren't fit to be around other kids that they should just be removed from school. I promise when parents can't rely on public school to feed and watch their kids for free while they work because they can't behave themselves, parents will want to do a whole lot more to see to it that they teach their kids some humanity. Does the child's education suffer? Yes maybe, but who's problem is that? Not the child who was being bullied and that's all that matters.

In most cases though it would be a social stigma for the parent. In almost every single case that I know of, with very few exceptions, it's not the poor kids who do the bullying. It's the kids who have it all. The kids who have no reason to be cruel or mean are usually the worst. So let Ms Country Club Mom explain to her friends that her child/teenager was removed from school, can't walk at graduation, can't attend the prom, can't be homecoming king/queen over bullying other children. Of course her child will be innocent, it's all a misunderstanding........but the whispers about it by others will drive her nuts. Yeah that's a whole other kind of bullying but I'm okay with that. Sure the child suffers some indignity too but if you had any idea what these bullies deal out you'd have no pity for them I assure you. Besides all that.......if you're the mother of a child who drove another to suicide or if you are the one who bullied someone to that end.........how in the world do you deal with that??? You get to live knowing that persons death is on your conscience. I wouldn't want that, I can't imagine anyone who would.

Heart Of A Champion Foundation looks at the situation and seems to think they have a program that can help with these issues. I've only read a small bit about the organization and I can't say I honestly think they have the right formula, but I applaud the hell out of them for at least trying. BullyPoliceUSA does too. Heart Of A Champion seems to focus on character building, which is a great thing. I can see how that would be helpful in building the self esteem and teaching things that are being neglected in the home but it's still up to the school and parents to enforce standing up to bad behavior. Bullypolice focuses a great deal on awareness and getting laws put into place. Wonderful, but again, the laws they get passed have to be enforced to make any real difference and that's the hardest part it seems.

I'm not sure that it will ever be stopped. We'd have to be a much better society to see that happen and I'm not sure any of us can be THAT good, but I really feel that if ALL parents would step up to the plate and teach their children right from wrong when it comes to others, it could get a whole lot better. I can hope, I suppose that's something.

With all of the games that are out now on the more popular gaming consoles, it’s tough to try and get kids interested in a game that doesn’t involve guns, war, gore or other forms of violence? You’re a parent, you know that each time a birthday or Christmas rolls around they are asking for the games you’d be more likely to give your husband than to give your elementary aged child right? What if you could direct them to a website that both with have some of their favorite TV characters while still delivering to them the strategy games they want? I found them at nick.com!

When I first got onto their site to check out the games I was expecting the simple “tic-tac-toe” and crossword style games and I was pleasantly surprised at the variety they had as well as the quality of the graphics! It didn’t stop at strategy games though! Once I really started going through I also found several different multiplayer games where the kids can take and play together with their friends! One game allows the kids to choose between different characters to be as well as the different types of “water guns”! I even found myself getting a little involved in it the first time because it was so easy and it was nice to play a game with my little ones online.

The adventure games took my experience with the website to another level with the great ideas and games they had! Not only were there SpongeBob games, but I also found several different versions involving the Fairly Odd Parents, Avatar and the Wild Thornberrys! Each show had a couple different games that would take you through different challenges. With all this variety of child friendly games, I know my kids will play for hours!

Last week, in desperation, because I'd read all my library books, I was looking for something to read. I have this thing about reading while soaking in the tub or laying out in the sun. MUST have a book to read. I ruins the whole thing if I don't.

So anyway despite the fact that I go get about 10 books and they're supposed to last me 2 weeks, I ran out of books to read. Soooooooo, I snagged one from Ash. Now normally I don't read the same books she does. Luckily she doesn't really like love stories and crap like that so I figured I at least wouldn't be gagging over the syrupy sweetness some of those romance novels drown the whole story in. BLECH! They're almost worse than fairy tales.

The book I got from Ash was a series I had been buying her for a few months. Along the Lines of Twilight, which she LOVED so I figured these would be be a sure hit. She started on them slow but after she really got involved in the first book she was reading them like crazy.

The books are basically about vampires but it's very teenage related. The main characters are all teens for the most part. The girl this book is about is apparently some sort of "special" vampire. Like a Priestess or something like that, but basically she's a teenager who's whole world has changed and she's just trying to make her way through it all.

Well, I read the first book and the rest that we had here in just about a week. 3 books already I think and now I'm on the 4th now and there's one left I haven't read and yet another coming out in October. I can't wait.

Anyway, they're apparently pretty popular with teens so if you know one who has the series. Snag it! They're called "House of Night" Novels and they're really good! Here's the Official Website too so you can learn more if ya want. If you liked Twilight I think you'll love this.

Looking for cute, fashionable maternity clothes? Well, a Lil birdy told me that you can get some great maternity clothes from Kiki's Fashions. Not just that, but if you use the code "blogfriends" at check out you receive 20% off! Love Love Love Discounts! They even have a Clearance section so hurry and check it out my preggie pals. Kiki's has some totally cute stuff!

I just wish there had been cute maternity clothes like these back when I needed them! I think I spent a good deal of my pregnancies in sweats for the most part. Which, technically isn't much different from the way i am now and I'm not preggo so I don't really know why I'm complaining about it lol. I am though! It's the principle of the thing or something.

Regardless, ladies today have great choices for maternity clothes. How many of you had the retro t-shirt that said "BABY" with an arrow pointing down at your tummy? I always wondered if that was so women could point out that they're pregnant and not just fat or if they wondered if people would see their swollen stomach and think "wow, what's she got in there?". I always thought a cuter shirt would have been "Not A Watermelon, Not A Basketball, NO You Can't Touch It". Kinda covers everything don't ya think?

Today's Topic: 10 Things That Turn You Off About People

Oh this one is easy. I wonder if I can ONLY do 10??

1. People who use their children to get or keep their own selfish wants. Especially Mothers! DISGUSTING people who shouldn't be allowed to breed further.

2. People who eat while they talk on the phone and People who chew with their mouths open. Even if it's just gum. BLECH!

3. People who use the restroom while on the phone. Seriously, that shouldn't even be an issue.

4. People who don't recognize the limits of their incomes. If you're going to Disneyworld, Six Flags whatever and times are tough, here's a clue...........GROW UP! Better yet find something to do to help others if you're bored, don't go spend money you don't have.

5. People who make others their scapegoats. They can't take the blame for things they did or they don't want to face it alone so they pass it off on others, like their children. Again......DISGUSTING!

6. People who want the very best and yet can't be bothered to help pay for it. Can you say LEECH? Children get away with this.........Unless you're Paris Hilton and it can be afforded an adult should know better.

7. Women who use child support for boob jobs and yet the child has nothing to wear. Yes I know someone who has done that and i'd love for her to have one of those implants pop lol.

8. People who just don't even try yet I support them by paying taxes. Needing help is fine, but geesh, do SOMETHING to help yourself too.

9. People who think they are somehow entitled to be rude to customer service, public service persons, ie: Waiters, waitresses, phone operators. Take on the ones who make the rules, these people are just doing their jobs.

10. People who make it their lot in life to make everyone else as miserable as they are. I guess it takes all kinds to make the world go round but I can honestly say I could live quite well without those types breathing the same oxygen I do. I'm just sayin.........

I have about 12 more loaded, but i'll stop with 10 lol. Maybe another time......

No way I'd even chance it! I've been there. It was bad enough back then without it being a holiday. I can't imagine being in the midst of a throng of people, who are drinking and acting like fools. Hey though, if that's your thing, BluFrog is giving away some cool prizes and that's one of them. A free trip for 2 to New York for New Years Eve.

Me personally, I'd rather win the gaming package. Not that we need another game system around here, we already have 5, but of the prizes being given away it's the one that would best fit my family. The others, not so much, but I can see where others might find them exciting.

They're giving away a trip to Lollapalooza, a Richard Petty Racing Experience package, and a trip to the Winter X Games in Aspen, along with the gaming package and the NY trip. They're actually really nice prizes.

Luckily, they're also making it easy to enter. You can enter 3 different ways. You can leave a Blog Comment, you can Tweet about it and you can write a blog post about it. I'm thinking those are all pretty easy ways to get your name in the hat to win some really neat stuff.

1. Do you have a bucket list?(if you have it posted feel free to post your URL)
If you don't have one, then jot down 5 quick things on a piece of paper that you know you'd want on your list...or imagine some of the things you know you'd put on a Bucket list to be. (potential future list)

Nope, no bucket list. I get the concept but I refuse to live life in the shadow of pending death. If i thought about it i'd worry myself half to death, no pun intended.

2. Do you think you have already fulfilled anything on your bucket list or bucket list to be?

I think there are a lot of things left I want to do in my life, yes

3. What are the top 3 things you'd like to do before you leave this world?

Spoil grandkids mostly, but there are a few people i'd lovvvvvvvvvvvve to see get what's coming to them.

4. If it would take a lot of money to fulfill one of your wishes on your bucket list, would you try to find the money or just skip that one?

Since I don't have one I dunno for sure but I can say if I really wanted to do something for any reason I will find a way so No, i won't be skipping it.

5. fill in the blank -Life is just a -------- mix of good, bad and mediocre. It's up to us to decide which of those we'll focus on and how we'll let it shape us.

6. fill in the blank - The glass isn't half empty it's ------just waiting for a refill

7. If you had a chance to be with your MOST favorite entertainer in the whole world before you leave this world, who would that be and how much time would you want to spend with them?

Ummmm, there's so many to choose from cause lots of entertainers are my MOST favorite lol. I think i'd choose Nikki Sixx though. I'd want to spend a couple days at the most. I love the fact that he's turned his life around and has dedicated himself to being a better person and father.

8. If you were given the chance to go anywhere in the world before the end comes...where would you go and what would you want to see?

Gawd that sounds morbid! I'd just want to be with my family truthfully. That's really where I am the happiest.

Lately I'm looking for a new way to make extra money doing something I enjoy. So far I'm not coming up with much but I have considered making candles since I personally love them and know many others who do as well. Mostly my family.

So I've been doing some research on what type of candles I want to make and what it will cost to get started. Of course I want to start slow and build up as needed. So I figure the main things I will need to start with are the basics. Wax, wicks, scents, jars, etc.

Generally I prefer the paraffin waxes but mostly only because the last few times I've purchased soy based candles I got a really bad headache. The scents were off or something I think though so the wax may not have anything to do with it.

Anyway, In my looking I did some research on wholesale glass jars because I'd like to find some pretty ones that make the candles nicer looking than just the normal glass jars I see candles poured in around here. I am considering going with the one shown in the pic above. I like the deco look of it and I think it'll be gorgeous with the flame behind it. I found it at thejarstore.com.

I also found some scents there that i'd love to try including some seasonal scents for when the holidays roll around. Christmas Splendor and Harvest Spice sound wonderful and I haven't even smelled them yet.

Anyway, I doubt i'll get started on this anytime soon but who knows. I just might. Then I'll be bugging everyone to buy Candles By Nessa lol.

I'm so proud of my garden! I'm getting veggie blooms already on my Squash, Zucchini, Cucumbers and Tomatoes. I swear the plants themselves are growing several inches a day and they look very healthy. All except for the bell pepper plants. I'm not sure what's up with them. They look like they just always want to die.

Since I got a late start on it this year I pretty much have just gone with commercial fertilizers but I'm already planning next years garden. I need more room for one and I want to be better prepared. Sooooooo, I'm looking into organic fertilizers. I know you have to allow them more time to work and they are better suited to being tilled directly into the soil so I want to get that done in plenty time.

Now I just have to decide HOW I want to go about using an organic fertilizer. there are those you can buy and there are those you could make yourself via mulching and such. I'm thinking I likely don't really have the time to make my own and will need to go with one ready to use. I think I may try out Safer brand for next year. Their site has a great deal of information on organic gardening as well as tips for organic pest control and lawn care. I like that they give ALL the information a consumer might need instead of just little tidbits here and there. They even have an Insect Identification section complete with pictures so if you have something invading your garden you can match the up and know how to get rid of them.

Anyway, I can't wait til we can start getting veggies from our garden but I'll be even more excited next year knowing I'll be growing chemical free goodies for my family.
